Just found this fabulous new site. They sell very accurate vintage reproduction clothes, shoes, hair flowers, and other fun things. They also have a nice summary of the history of 1940's fashion and detailed instructions on 1940's hairstyles like victory rolls and pin-curls. Check it out.
